Function of Zinc in Plants
Zinc plays a role as a catalyst in most enzyme systems found in plants. Zinc-containing enzymes are important for starch and nitrogen metabolism. Zinc controls tryptophan-amino acid synthesis, which in turn stimulates auxin, an important growth hormone.
Usefulness of Zinc in Soil
Zinc is often retained in soil organic complexes, and high pH reduces the amount of zinc available to the plant. Additionally, excessive phosphorus applications cause zinc deficiency in plants.
Products Sensitive to Zinc Deficiency
Wheat, corn, cotton, paddy, barley, oats, beans, green vegetables, citrus fruits, grapes, apples, pears.
Zinc Deficiency
In most cases, the formation of short internodes in plants and the appearance of chlorosis on the leaves are symptoms of zinc deficiency. Small yellow spots appear on the leaves. In fruit trees, the eyes, buds and shoots die the next season, and the leaves fall off early. Plant growth is delayed and cell growth is disrupted.

Wheat, Barley, Oats, Soybean, Peanuts, Corn, Beans, Peas, Paddy, Sorghum, Cotton, Sugar Beet | 200-400 g/da from soil 100-200 g/da from leaves, 200 g/100 kg from seeds | It is applied every year until the deficiency is corrected just before planting, and every 3 years to prevent it from occurring again. It is sprayed immediately (in the early stage) when sufficient leaves have developed on the plant. It should be applied without any signs of deficiency. |
Citrus | from leaf 100-200 g/da | It is applied to new shoots in spring. Repeat if necessary. It is not applied during the flowering period and just before harvest. |
Olive | from leaf 100 g/da | It is applied upon awakening in the spring and repeated 3-4 weeks later. |
Apple pear | from leaf 100 g/da | It is applied before the flower buds burst. It is repeated after harvest. |
Apricot, Peach, Plum | from leaf 100 g/da from soil 0.5 - 1 kg/tree depending on the size of the tree | It is applied after harvest. The recommended dose should not be exceeded. Leaves may burn. In case of extreme deficiency, it is applied regularly from the ground with a sprayer, injector or strainer. |
Walnut and Cherry | from leaf 50-200 g/da | It is applied to the leaves immediately after flowering. It is repeated twice with an interval of 2-3 weeks. |
